Save the Cinema
A comedy drama, a feel-good story – and it actually happened! That’s our June performance, Save the Cinema (12, 2022). Set in Wales in 1993, the film tells the story of how the local ‘Lyric’ cinema is doomed to closure – until local hairdresser and youth theatre leader Liz steps in and embarks on a campaign to stop the closure. She even enlists Steven Spielberg to assist with a special cinema performance. The wonderful Samantha Morton stars as Liz and she’s supported by a great British cast which includes Jonathan Pryce. This is a real charmer, just the thing for a summer evening, so do come along and share it with us.
Running time: 1 hr 49 mins, directed by Sara Sugarman.
